Robert Christopher Rodriguez has over a decade of working in higher education. He currently serves as the Associate Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis at Florida International University (FIU), where he is responsible for the development and management of the College of Business’ operating budget. Working closely with the College’s leadership, Robert analyzes current and past performance and variances to develop short and long-term forecasting, determines the impact of new revenue streams, the feasibility of operational expansions and provides input in the development of the College’s strategic initiatives. In late 2018, Robert was part of a team that was awarded a $1.1M grant through the Department of Education to advance international education and research throughout the United States. He is also an adjunct professor in the College of Business at FIU.
Since a young age, one of Robert’s passions has been computers. At the age of 17 he started his first web hosting company. This start gave him insight on how to manage a startup, provide superior customer service, manage financials, and operate in a competitive market. Using what he learned, he replicated this success again when he was 19 and started his second web hosting company. Robert has also managed federal grants, worked for a Closed-End Fund (CEF) investment management firm, operated his own computer repair company, and worked in sales.
Robert earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida International University. He is currently a doctoral student at the University of Maryland University College pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with an anticipated graduation date of 2020.
